the accuracy and repeatability of the end face position is assured with face drivers. under uniform tailstock pressures, the drive pins consistently locate and penetrate the workpiece within +/-0.002˝ from one piece to the next. we only produce drive pins, needle roller pins,custom your drawings not face drivers.
the drive pins are ”floatingly“ suspended, thus compensating irregularities with regard to possible unevenness of the surface of work pieces. the datum-point of work pieces on the machines is determined by the size of the center hole. the entire surface of work piece can now be tooled in one single clamping.
anything can be turned between centers can be done with a face driver include automotive transmission parts, crankshafts, camshafts, pinion gears, electric motor shafts, forgings and axles up to 36 inches in diameter. to be safely turned with a face driver, a three-to-one ratio of drive diameter to rough workpiece diameter is recommended, but five-to-one ratios have also been used.
in order to easily and quickly change the drive disks, the removal lever shown at right may be used. the removal lever is placed laterally and easily inserted. thus the drive disk can be loosened through a tilting movement.
face drivers reduce or eliminate the need to face irregular or out-of-square faces as long as the center hole is properly drilled. in some cases, even a forged center hole is sufficient if care is used in selecting the correct center point. the compensating medium the face driver assures equal penetration of the drive pins despite variations in the surface or in the squareness of the face.

with proper center pin loading and the use of drive pins, almost any type of part can be turned and often with greater efficiency than when using a jawed chuck. all types of cuts can be done with fast feeds and deep cuts. plunge cuts, or grooving interrupted cuts into hardened gears, as well as hard threading are routinely done with face drivers.face drivers can handle a wide range of workpieces with one size driver.
due to their self centering and accurate positioning, face drivers make it possible to automatically load and unload the workpiece. in some cases, this can be accomplished without stopping the spindle rotation, further increasing productivity. eliminate facing of the workpiece
